matt was saying a bit is, take the john brennan pick. the john kerry pick. obama's trying to surround himself with people he really is friends with and likes. the first term was people like hillary clinton, jim jones, bob gates. they're big names. those aren't necessarily obama allies. brennan, hagel, kerry, susan rice, these are really people obama knows and is close to. that's what he's trying to build for his second term. >> i want to bring in congressman adam schiff, democrat from california. always good to see you, congressman, good morning. >> thank you. good morning. >> do you think if this fight if it does materialize over chuck hagel could have the effect of taking the focus off of other things that need to get done? things like the debt ceiling? >> well, i don't think we could afford to let it get in the way of debt ceiling. we only have two or three months to get that done. that fight is getting frankly much more difficult than the fiscal cliff was. we have the debt limit which the president quite rightly has said he won't engage on that. we can't hold that kind of a revolv
